Memory and memory as a walk

Museum Schokland Flevopolder (2024).
As a sculptor, you carry the tradition of sculpting with you. Since time immemorial, people have chopped, nicked, sawed into materials. Tradition also involves passing on the coherence of things, thus memory and future come together and form the reflection visible in my sculpture. Wood has it all in it, the history and the new future. I try to give a tree a new life and transform it into a sculpture. The craft is important to me here, not only sawing but also gouging with hammer and chisel. The traces of this are visible in the work. I hope that in this way I can pass on the energy of making. This is a walk in which the past and the new future coincide.

Memory and future are a reflection of time.  No matter how short our own past is, the total past is infinite.

This sculpture is 4 meters high.
