Chameleon

Municipality of Rotterdam, Paul Krugerstraat- Laan op Zuid

The African animal carved out of Belgian bluestone is a chameleon of size (2m x 2m x 70cm x 80cm). He is guarding the bridge like an ornament in his surroundings. From his mouth:  his tongue rolls, his eyes can rotate 360 degrees and thus he can see the whole environment. His body ends at the other side of the bridge, where the spines of his back go over into a shiny stone tail, rolled up like a timeless beacon.
The fence along the bridge with tree structures in steel connects head and tail.
